We spend so much of our time talking about and showcasing the incredible marine diversity which can be found along our Knysna coastline, that we thought today we would pause for a moment and reflect on the breathtaking beauty of the ocean landscape itself: the shifting shades of blue, its many moods, and its perpetual tidal dance with the moon.
“The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.” Jacques Yves Cousteau, Oceanographer
“The sea is everything. It covers seven tenths of the terrestrial globe. Its breath is pure and healthy. It is an immense desert, where man is never lonely, for he feels life stirring on all sides.“ — Jules Verne, Science Fiction Writer
“With every drop of water you drink, every breath you take, you’re connected to the sea. No matter where on Earth you live.”
— Sylvia Earle, Oceanographer
“The ocean stirs the heart, inspires the imagination and brings eternal joy to the soul.” — Wyland, Marine Life Artist
“I have always been fascinated by the ocean, to dip a limb beneath its surface and know that I’m touching eternity, that it goes on forever until it begins here again.” — Lauren DeStefano, Writer
“And it is an interesting biological fact that all of us have, in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and, therefore, we have salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch it, we are going back from whence we came. “ — President John F. Kennedy
